KBI Craft

King Beverage, Inc.

The Rusnak name has been in the beer distribution business for nearly 4 decades and their story is extraordinary. A brand reputation that began with founder Ted Rusnak and is carried on by his son Peter, wife Tenley and a wonderfully capable and caring team. King Beverage, Inc. is built on everything a legacy is made of; humble beginnings, love of people, tenacity, grit, integrity, consistency, innovation, intelligence and accurate decision making. Their company, KBI has been an Anheuser-Busch distributor InBev since its inception. Beyond their business acumen, they consistently go beyond the call of duty within the communities they serve by giving back and supporting various charities and causes.

With the rise in craft beer consumption and experiences, King Beverage was discovering that customers in this category did not have them top of mind when it came to their distribution, tap system installs and promotional needs. This is largely due to the mass scale presence of Budweiser, Corona and other similar brands that are widely marketed. What these boutique customers are not typically aware of is the extensive craft beer options available within their portfolio. Paired with unparalleled infrastructure and resources, their organization has the ability to come alongside their customers and offer support, products and promotion, unlike any other distributor in their region.

Their strategic intent led them to separate the branding and marketing efforts, thus KBI Craft was born. Purpl. was engaged with the task of creating a brand identity system that resonates with the craft beer culture and provides a platform to offer the narrative about KBI being a locally owned, family operated company with an amazing selection of craft products.

Our team delivered an identity that gave a nod to yesteryear and the old cars of the prohibition era, complete with a beer mug, custom lettering and a subtle and effective nod back to the king of beverages, via a crown. From there, business cards, t-shirts, vehicle wraps and coasters completed the cohesive communication system.
